Brisa and Pathena sign an investment partnership agreement
Pathena is now in BIT's shareholder structure with a 15.8% stake
Brisa and Pathena signed a partnership agreement in the provision of technology and services related to mobility.
This agreement, which is materialized by the entry of Pathena in the shareholder structure of Brisa Innovation and Technology, with a 15.8% stake, aims at offering innovative technology products and services in the area of mobility, traffic management and tolling, at both national and internacional levels.
As innovation activities and technology have generated significant value to the Brisa Group and have allowed over the last few years, creating world-class solutions such as tolls and traffic management systems . These solutions have been internationally recognized and are now implemented in competitive markets such as USA or the Netherlands, which is intended to potentiate growth in this new phase of company. To Daniel Amaral, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brisa Innovation and Technology, "this is a partnership that complements the accumulated expertise of BIT, making it more able to meet the technological challenges of mobility, reinforcing the historical role within the Group as an innovative player in the management and operation of toll roads".
The rapid development of the sector and recent trends of mobility posed new challenges to Brisa that, with this partnership, seeks to remain at the technological forefront, by finding new relevant business lines and scalable solutions which support its international growth with focus on markets in the United States and Europe. According to Antonio Murta, Managing Director and Co-founder of Pathena, "makes perfect sense to invest in smart mobility - both in cars, and in the cities and intelligent infrastructure . This is a project in which we, together with our partners internationally affirm the value of an intangible asset reference and Portuguese intellectual property.
