Pathena invests in ebankIT
Venture Capital company ensures funds for the international expansion of Portuguese technology company and wants to enhance ebankIT's statement as a world reference player in its sector
The venture capital Pathena and ebankIT, the Portuguese omnichannel company result of ITSector 2014 spin-off, oriented to digital platforms development for the financial sector, signed an investment agreement with the objective of strengthen the growth and expansion of ebankIT internationally.
According to António Murta, founder and Managing Partner of Pathena, this investment, embodied by the venture capital's entry into the shareholder structure of ebankIT, has two components:
"First, a financial component, which ensures the necessary funds to accelerate the expansion of ebankIT, by creating conditions for the international growth of the company. In addition, the experience of Pathena team will be at the service of ebankIT, particularly in the implementation of an international integrator ecosystem, enhancing the necessary changes so that ebankIT can grow as the world reference player in software development for the financial sector channels. "
The same responsible clarifies why the choice of ebankIT, given that Pathena is currently in an investment period of its first IT and MedTech areas.
"The digitization of banking was one of the areas identified as priority since the beginning of Pathena Fund and, in this context, the range of solutions for the digital and multi-channel business that ebankIT implemented in several geographies in Europe and Africa, generated high expectations of future value, "noted Antonio Murta.
For João Lima Pinto, CEO of ebankIT, the investment partnership agreement reached with Pathena is "an important step in the company's history, in that it reinforces the natural calling of ebankIT to operate in foreign markets, where we have been, progressively, increasing our activity. "
It should be recalled that in last February, ebankIT was awarded as “Best of Show” in London within the scope of the largest and most important trade fair for technological solutions aimed at the financial sector, at 'Finovate Europe'.
Founded in 2014 with headquarters in Porto and offices in London, ebankIT was created based on the technical staff skills and innovative products for the financial sector. ITSECTOR Company is currently its main shareholder.
